How we teach
Four pillars of the academy plan
Every enrolled family receives a written plan built from these pillars, adjusted for the student's level rather than a fixed grade label.
Core sequence
Language arts and mathematics are sequenced across grade levels, with weekly checkpoints so gaps are caught in weeks rather than semesters.
Sciences with real work
Students keep laboratory notebooks, run observations, and write up findings. Experiments are chosen for equipment families can actually obtain.
Studio and performance
Visual art, music, and craft are scheduled as core subjects, with finished work reviewed by an academy advisor each term.
Records families own
Attendance, coursework, grades, and advisor reviews are recorded in a form families can export and hand to any school or district.
Curriculum tools
Official platforms families may use
These links go to the providers' own sites. We do not rewrite our philosophy around any vendor, and using a platform is never a condition of enrollment.
- Time4LearningHomeschool curriculum resourceBYA Homeschool Enhanced’s selected core curriculum resource for language arts and mathematics.
- ImmerseEDCustomized immersive learningCustomized immersive experiences: simulations, interactive programs, historical investigations, creative projects, and real-world challenges.
- IXLTargeted skills practiceSkill practice and diagnostics families use to reinforce and fill gaps quickly.
- Khan AcademySupplemental explanationsFree instructional videos and practice, useful when a student needs a second explanation.
Some platforms bill families directly and separately from academy tuition. Where a provider's terms differ from ours, the provider's terms govern that platform, and our Enrollment Agreement governs the academy's own services.
What is ahead
Pathways for the 2027-28 school year
The Virtual Private School and the Houston Microschool extend this same sequence into full-time instruction: live classes and faculty for the virtual school, and an in-person studio cohort in Houston with a capacity of 15 students.
Both programs are planned rather than open. Families who join an interest list hear from us before enrollment opens, and are under no obligation to enroll.
